We select sustainably sourced, pollution-free raw wood, crafting each board from a single piece of solid timber – no splicing or adhesives, no bleaching, and no lacquering. We do not apply lacquer or glue around the edges to prevent end-grain cracking! The key to a truly natural and non-toxic solid wood cutting board lies in choosing a "single-piece wood material rich in natural oils and with a fine, dense texture," combined with correct, natural physical methods to prevent cracking. Many inferior wood cutting boards are treated with chemical paints or anti-cracking glues on their end-grain (outer edges) to prevent dry splitting. These chemicals not only adhere to the surface but, through capillary action within the wood fibers – akin to a tightly fitting straw – can penetrate deeply. Allow plant-based oil to fully penetrate, and use the cutting board daily, allowing it to come into contact with water to maintain moisture and prevent cracking. We believe cutting boards should not be bleached for aesthetics or coated with paint and glue for fear of cracking.
