In my master's workshop, there's a lotus pond. Visit at noon, and you can see it bloom. Visit in the afternoon, and it's already fading. I looked it up; the world calls it a "water lily." They say "lily" sounds pleasant, but to me, it just seems to die. It reminds me of a slightly dramatic, yet ever-present phrase: "Ichi-go ichi-e" (One time, one meeting). Life comes and goes, and interactions with people are serendipitous encounters. Some people, we assume will always be there, as if by natural right. Yet, with a turn, they might be gone forever. Accustomed to this rhythm, we let time simply pass. So, should we cherish these moments? That feels overly sentimental. Intentionality easily disrupts the delicate balance of natural interaction. Then what? How should I know? If I knew, I'd be with Confucius, Lao Tzu, Zhuangzi, or even Pine Nut. Yet, I'm precisely the kind of person who clings to memories. So I craft these memories into silver pieces, one by one, and display them. At least this way, I can be at ease and accept them. New creation, "Lotus Wheel."
