🌸 Japan's Largest Ceramic Producer:
Mino Ware – Masters of Exquisite Tableware
🏮 Hailing from Gifu Prefecture, Japan (Toki City, Tajimi City, Mizunami City, Kani City), Mino ware is one of Japan's oldest regional kiln-fired ceramics. Its long history of producing tableware dates back to the 14th century. Today, approximately 60% of domestic Japanese ceramic tableware is Mino ware, making it the nation's top producer.
Mino ware tableware is renowned for its simple designs, natural materials, and elegant forms, regarded as some of the finest Japanese ceramics. Its characteristics include pure colors, delicate textures, and smooth glazes, positioning it as high-end tableware within the Japanese ceramic industry. It was officially designated a National Traditional Craft in 1988.
🎁 This is a set of small plates featuring intricate gold leaf patterns, presented in a wooden gift box. The striking glossy black porcelain possesses a sense of gravitas and luxury, produced by Saian Kiln, which excels in creating Japanese tableware that blends tradition with contemporary style. The overall aesthetic is one of quiet elegance.
[What is Edo Komon?]
During the Edo period, sumptuary laws restricting ostentatious clothing led to the development of patterns that appeared solid at first glance but revealed intricate, small designs upon closer inspection. Each domain developed its unique patterns for identification, giving rise to "Komon" (small patterns).
Although Edo Komon is monochromatic, its designs are exceptionally diverse. Among Japanese stencil patterns, Komon is globally celebrated for its refined and delicate motifs. Its most distinctive feature is how the patterns are subtle from a distance, yet reveal astonishingly fine detail up close.
