And this bright flower has already exposed its cheerful, elegant petals to its rays, rejoicing in the first warmth and the arrival of spring. Because of its early spring flowering, crocus symbolizes rebirth, joy, youth, romance. Crocus has a second name - Saffron. This beautiful, delicate seasoning is made from the pistils and stamens of some varieties of crocus. In ancient times, dye for dyeing fabrics was also made from flowers. The ancient Greek myth about the origin of crocus is interesting. An ordinary mortal young man fell in love with a nymph. Then his love remained unrequited, the nymph was indifferent. To end the suffering of the young man, the gods turned him into a crocus flower, and the nymph into another flower - bindweed. Such a beautiful and sad legend.
