This vase features a straight abdomen, long neck, and a plate mouth, with phoenix-shaped ears delicately attached to both sides of the long neck. The overall design is elegant and representative of Longquan kilns during the Southern Song Dynasty. Located in the southern part of Zhejiang, Longquan kilns were widely known for their diverse ceramic products. After the Southern Song period, these kilns became crucial suppliers of ceramic wares both domestically and internationally. Such ceramics were not only frequently found in numerous tombs and excavations dating back to the Song and Yuan Dynasties but also discovered in overseas trade sites. The long-necked plate-mouth vase was initially crafted by the Ru kilns of the Northern Song Dynasty and was later inherited and favored by official kilns during the Southern Song period. Longquan kilns introduced innovations by adding fish-shaped or phoenix-shaped ears to both sides of the vase neck. The delicate phoenix ear imprints on this Longquan kiln celadon vase are vivid, with clear details of the phoenix's head and wings. The glaze exhibits a powdery blue color, and its quality is lustrous and flawless. Similar to a celadon phoenix ear vase found in Japan, acknowledged with imperial inscriptions "Qiansheng" and "Wansheng," this piece is also an exquisite masterpiece from the Longquan kilns.
