Handwoven Linen Stole [Ryuu-fu *07]
Materials: 95% Linen, 5% Silk
Size: Approx. 28cm (40cm) x 175cm (excluding 6cm fringe)
This small stole is meticulously handwoven using the finest 120-count linen yarn, the thinnest available, sourced from a Kyoto yarn wholesaler. The yarn is dyed in various colors after being bleached, then woven by hand. Its airy, sheer texture and crinkled feel drapes lightly and comfortably over the body.
Warp threads were set wide and interwoven at regular intervals with strongly twisted silk yarn, creating vertical ribs that result in a manageable narrow width. A plaid border using three colors of linen yarn, enhanced by the textured effect of the ribs, offers a cool and sophisticated design with a sense of depth.
The ultra-fine ramie linen yarn, half the thickness of standard handwoven linen yarn, is characterized by its minimal fuzz and subtle sheen. With a fine density of 512 warp threads, it achieves an exceptionally supple texture. Linen stoles offer superior water and moisture absorption, as well as quick-drying properties compared to cotton, ensuring a smooth, refreshing feel against the skin without stickiness. This makes it a versatile piece suitable for spring, summer, and autumn.
