This large wheel-thrown chawan was made in my small pottery workshop here in Taiwan.
I used local Taiwanese clay to make this tea bowl. I glazed the bowl in a Japanese traditional glazed called shino.
The end result was a slightly iridescent sheen, where the colors seem to change when viewed from different angles.
While wet I used a wooden tool to create some indentations that make drinking from the bowl more comfortable.
I handcarved the foot ring, adding to the handmade feel of the bowl.
This bowl was many aspects that will keep you engaged as you drink your tea. I believe a good tea bowl should be able to tell a story. The story will be yours to explore.
The bowl has a very slight wobble which explains the reduced price.
Be the owner of a handmade tea bowl from the beautiful island of Taiwan.
