Care and Maintenance Notes:
★ Each piece is a unique handmade wool artwork, crafted by artisans, with no two exactly alike.
★ Handmade wool products may exhibit slight imperfections characteristic of handcrafting, unlike machine-made items that are uniform. There might be a stray thread or minor variations in color (if severe, it will be noted and photographed if clearly visible and significant). If you are particularly sensitive to the handmade aesthetic, please consider carefully. If you haven't purchased handmade woven items before, feel free to message us for details on specific pieces.
★ Wool products should not be machine washed. Dry cleaning once a season is recommended. If hand washing, use a wool-specific detergent or shampoo, gently washing separately (darker colors may have slight dye bleed). Air dry and then iron on a low setting with a towel placed over it (do not expose to direct sunlight).
★ The items we select are delicate, artistic pieces, especially our cashmere products, requiring gentle handling. Fingernails, jewelry, bag hardware, zippers, and Velcro can easily snag the fibers, so please handle with care. While cashmere is light and soft, wool products are generally more durable against friction. We select virgin wool and lamb's wool or use a boiled wool process, making them softer and more skin-friendly than ordinary wool. We find them not to be noticeably itchy, but if you are particularly concerned about itchiness, we will indicate it. You can also message us if you are very sensitive to itchiness.
★ Each item will be presented in an eco-friendly, minimalist kraft paper box, gift-wrapped, perfect for gifting to loved ones.
Xian Nu Xing Xuan Wu - North Indian Kashmiri Wool Handmade Scarves/Shawls
Boiled Wool Scarf/
Due to the high altitude and low boiling point in the Kashmir region, a special boiled wool technique has been developed. Repeated boiling and drying make the boiled wool more fluffy and soft, and more skin-friendly than ordinary wool products. The multi-layered yarn is thick and soft, providing excellent wind resistance. Combined with carefully colored hand-embroidered yarn, the details are exquisite (can be worn on both sides; one side may have contrasting or lighter colors. The reverse side may have a few hand-tied knots, but can be worn on both sides if you don't mind).
Kani Old Craft/
Kani is a classical Indian weaving art (not printing). Traditionally, it was handwoven with wooden shuttles, thread by thread, creating patterns of vines, flowers, paisley, maple leaves, etc. Each piece could take months to complete. Nowadays, machine-woven versions are more common, requiring time-consuming hand-trimming of the weft threads on the back, resembling impressionist paintings. Some people also enjoy wearing them on the reverse side.
Hand Embroidery/
The embroidery thread across the entire shawl is purely hand-stitched, so it may not be as precisely aligned or flat as machine embroidery, but it possesses the charm of fine handcraftsmanship. Filled with exquisite and delicate details, adorned with vibrant vines or the paisley motif representing eternity and royalty, it evokes a romantic Bohemian garden feel.
Kalenkali Hand-Dyeing and Embroidery/
India's renowned dyeing and printing techniques are combined with hand embroidery. The intricate dyeing patterns across the entire shawl are then outlined with embroidery in various colors. The contrasting piano border at the bottom is also a feature of Kani-like charm. Experience the richness of two traditional crafts, full of detail, making it a collectible.
