Character portraits with floating flowers are rarely seen as it is challenging to coordinate the scattered floral inclusions with the carving. This meticulously hand-carved pendant of a Dan (young female role) / Qingyi (virtuous heroine) figure harmoniously blends the floating flowers with the character's ornate headdress. The character "京" (Jing, for Peking) is inscribed on the reverse. The jadeite possesses a moist, lustrous texture, akin to Hetian jade, with an exceptionally fine grain. The inclusions appear as lively, dancing blossoms. The pendant's shape is well-proportioned, finished with a combination of frosted and polished surfaces. This is a jadeite piece with considerable artistic merit. A cord is included. 🔸The coin in the image is a Hong Kong one-dollar coin (25mm), approximately the size of a 10 TWD or 1 SGD coin.
