▶ Feb 15th Notes:
This time, we're sharing more about the genuine first-place coffee producer, "Lulo Coffee."
The company's name is inspired by a fruit (Solanum quitoense, commonly known as "Lulo" or "Naranjilla" in Ethiopia). This fruit is celebrated for its "juiciness" and "balanced sweet-tartness." Robel Kidane chose this name with the hope that every coffee they export would offer an explosive burst of juice and sweetness, much like biting into a Lulo fruit.
Due to its premium price point, the import volume is limited to "approximately 100 half-pound bags" for sale. Based on TOH's years of experience: much like Japan's Naoki Prize for literature, it offers accessible and enjoyable flavors. We recommend trying it if you have the chance! Considering the current price trend, it's unlikely to become cheaper in the future.
▶ About "TOH#1"
TOH, short for Taste of Harvest, is an annual green coffee competition held by the African Fine Coffee Association (AFCA). It's akin to an African version of the Cup of Excellence.
The meaning of #1: This signifies that the coffee bean achieved first place, or the highest honor in its category, in the competition that year. This typically means its clarity, sweetness, and flavor complexity have been rigorously certified by international judges, confirming it as "officially delicious."
▶ 74158 is a renowned "floral" varietal.
Although this is a natural process coffee with dominant notes of rich blueberry and raisin, the use of the 74158 varietal allows for a clear "chamomile, sweet orange" line within the intense fruitiness. This prevents the coffee from being solely heavy and sweet, adding an elegant and light layered complexity.
