Acquired from an overseas collector. Estimated to be from before the 19th century. A religious artifact with over a century of history. Total length 14.7 cm. Weight 190 grams. This ritual implement was earth-buried... It bears significant oxidation patina... After more than two months of careful polishing and cleaning... Most of the black oxidation layer was removed through this process... Revealing some of the brass alloy material. This vajra exhibits old cracks. Observing a Japanese collector's own vajra used in their practice, it also displayed similar old cracks. This is quite rare among vajras... A Japanese Esoteric Buddhist ritual implement. The central section of the vajra commonly features four inscribed circles. These four circles represent the four eyes of Vairocana Buddha, subduing all demonic obstacles... This vajra has a Nepalese style. It is likely an early Nepalese ritual implement. Which then circulated to Japan. Later acquired by a Chinese antique dealer...
