Blue Silk Poem by Yu Renggong
Chao Si Meng Liang Lu,
I can't think of him at night;
Let’s play with fireworks tomorrow,
Let's spend the rest of our lives together.
Translation:
During the day, we gather together firewood, rice, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar, and tea.
Play piano, chess, calligraphy, painting, poetry, wine, and flowers together at night;
In the days to come, I will taste all the fireworks in the world with you,
I want to grow old with you for the rest of my life.
Menglianglu: refers to seven essential things in daily life. Taken from Song Dynasty. Wu Zimu's "Mengliang Lu". Volume 16. "Rui Pu": "The daily essentials for building a house are firewood, rice, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar and tea."
Never leave him: taken from Qing Dynasty. Zha Weiren's "Untitled Poetry" says, "Calligraphy, painting, music, chess, poetry, and wine were all inseparable back then; now seven things have changed, including firewood, rice, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, and tea." Another theory is that it was written in the Qing Dynasty. Written by Zhang Can.
Fireworks: Human fireworks.
Huafa: white hair.
