A single earring crafted with abacus-shaped and blue-green iridescent Roman glass beads.
"These are exceptionally precious Roman glass beads, originally made as decorative elements for items like necklaces during the Roman era."
Roman glass dates back to the Roman Empire period (27 BC – 395 AD).
A subtle iridescence can be observed on both beads.
Iridescence occurs when glass is buried underground for extended periods, causing a chemical reaction between the glass and soil components, resulting in this sparkling sheen. Not all glass buried for a long time develops this iridescence; it only appears when specific conditions align.
The abacus-shaped bead displays a monochrome, almost decadently melancholic iridescence.
The blue-green bead has a very slight iridescence.
(Abacus-shaped Roman glass bead size: 1cm length, 1.3cm width)
※The iridescent layer may peel off.
This sheen can diminish due to rubbing or contact with skin oils.
Even if the iridescence fades, the inherent color of the ancient glass can still be appreciated. We hope you will enjoy wearing them as they age and evolve with you.
The decorative elements above and below the beads are made of silver.
They are crafted from German silver with sterling silver layered on top, featuring delicate and charming filigree work!
The floral-shaped parts are also silver.
The double helix loop is made of Karen silver.
The French hook is also silver, stamped with "925".
The connecting pins are also silver.
These earrings capture a delicate shimmer within a beautifully aged aesthetic.
