HELIOS-40 a long focus coated lens for old Soviet M39 SLR cameras, later on that lens issued for M42 Zenit, Practica, Chinon, Cosina, Yashica and other SLR cameras with same lens mount.
HELIOS-40 lens is intended for shooting portraits, it provide slightly soft (at big aperture) and very pretty images.
HELIOS-40 lenses issued at KMZ plant (Krasnogorsk Mechanical Plant) in little quantities and always had more better quality than other Soviet lenses for Zenit cameras.
It can be used with a lot of digital Micro 4/3 cameras with the adapter.
In the main, most all Soviet lenses are exceptionally good and this one is no exception!
ITEM'S CONDITION: EXCELLENT+++++
The glass is very clear, without fungus or scratches.
Aperture blades open and close smoothly, focusing is smooth too.
Cosmetically the lens is in nice condition, just examine item's photos, please.
All functions are available.
* Focus: 85 mm.
* Angle of view: 28 degrees.
* Relative aperture:1:1.5 (up to 1:22 with clicks). Iris aperture consist off 10 elements and makes very good shape of aperture's hole.
* Additional ring for fast closing aperture from full opened to preinstalled meaning.
* Coated optics without Russian red symbol "Ï" (it sounds like P=prosvetlenije=coating, this symbol was removed since beginning of 1960s, when all Russian optics became coated).
* Mounting: M39x1mm groove, usual for old Soviet SLR cameras like Kristall, Zenit, Zenit-S, Zenit-3M, Start (with adapter) and Narciss (with adapter).
* Special lens adapter allows to mount this lens to latest SLR Zenit's with M42 lens mount (known also as Pentax screw mount), the adapter will come with this item.
* The lens is well-applicable for digital cameras with Micro 4/3 system and other with working distance 45.3-45.5mm and less, with the use of adapters:
All Sony NEX, Olympus, Panasonic: Lumix DMC-G1, DMC-GH1, DMC-GF1, DMC-G2, DMC-G10, Epson, Samsung, Canon F and other.
* Resolution (pairs of lines per 1 mm): is not less than 32 in the center and 16 on the edge of frame.
* Focusing: from 0.8 m up to "infinity".
* Filter mount M 66 x 0.75 mm... very uncommon size, You can see 67mm filters between modern filters, but not 66mm. Step-up adapter M66/M67 can be found & used.
* Tripod mount: removed at presented lens.
* Pretty in using.
* White painting.
* The lens was made in 1963 at KMZ plant (Optical and Mechanical plant at town of Krasnogorsk).
