The city of Changhua was located in what is now Changhua City. It was Taiwan's first brick city and had four city gates, none of which exist today. The East City Gate, named "Legeng Gate," was situated at the intersection of what is now Zhonghua Road and Zhongshan Road in Changhua City, where the County Council building stands today.
