Introducing Atelier Llewellyn's first beginner sewing (machine) introductory one-on-one private class!
Since we launched our basic hand-sewing classes, many students have inquired about other courses, with sewing machine classes consistently being among the most requested. As the designer, principal, and sole operator, my time is limited due to handling all aspects of the business. Developing and preparing a course also requires repeated consideration, demonstration, and refinement, including aspects like managing class duration and ensuring the difficulty of the projects is appropriate. While Atelier Llewellyn is not primarily focused on teaching, my meticulous approach means I want to offer courses that I genuinely love and that will be beneficial to students. Through the learning process of this course, you'll gain insight into the fashion industry, which is not always as glamorous as it might seem. You'll understand why well-made garments or fabric products come at a higher price, and the effort and hidden costs involved. Experiencing this firsthand will provide clarity. Our core mission remains unchanged: we hope that through hands-on practice, students will understand the creation of a garment, leading them to make informed choices when purchasing high-quality, well-crafted clothing that can be cherished for a long time. This encourages reduced consumption of fast fashion and less environmental pollution, starting with changes we can make ourselves.
This introductory single-session course is designed for complete beginners with no prior sewing machine experience who are interested in an initial exploration. Participants will complete a small project during the class, learning the basic principles and operation of a sewing machine, along with fundamental fabric ironing techniques.
This course only utilizes straight stitching, making it a very beginner-friendly sewing machine operation. The instructor will demonstrate and provide assistance throughout.
Students will complete one finished item in this class: a Spring Clasp Coin Pouch.
Dimensions: Approximately 7cm (height, excluding the clasp) x 9cm (width) x 4cm (depth). Clasp size: 8.5cm.
**Note: The hardware selected by the designer is designed for a snug fit to prevent items from falling out. Once installed, it requires a second hand to assist in opening. Please consider this if you anticipate any inconvenience before registering.**
Material: Outer fabric will be a printed cotton from the historic British department store, Liberty, or from American brand AGF (Art Gallery Fabrics). The lining will be Taiwanese cotton.
Use: Suitable for storing credit cards, business cards, loose change, or small items like lip balm and lipstick.
