Atelier Llewellyn's first one-on-one private introductory sewing (machine) class is here~
Since we started offering basic hand-sewing classes, many students have inquired about other courses, with classes using sewing machines being consistently popular. Although Atelier Llewellyn is not primarily a teaching institution, our meticulous approach means we only offer courses we genuinely love and believe will benefit our students. Through the learning process of this course, we hope to reveal that the fashion industry is not as glamorous as it might seem. You'll understand why a finished garment or textile product requires such effort and hidden costs to be done well, and why the price reflects that. Experiencing it firsthand will bring this understanding.
Our core mission remains unchanged: we want students to understand the birth of a garment through practical application, thereby making informed choices to purchase well-made, quality clothing that lasts. This reduces excessive fast-fashion consumption and minimizes environmental pollution, with change starting from within.
This single-session introductory course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior sewing machine experience who wish to solidify their understanding of fundamental concepts and operations. Through hands-on practice, participants will complete a small project, learning the basic principles and usage of a sewing machine, along with an introduction to fabric ironing.
This course utilizes only straight-line stitching, a very basic sewing machine operation. The instructor will demonstrate and provide assistance. The sewing machine models used in class allow for adjustable stitching speed, making them beginner-friendly and aiding in developing operational feel and confidence.
Students will complete one finished product in this course: a spring-frame coin purse.
Dimensions/ Approximately 7cm height (excluding the top spring frame) x 9cm base width x 4cm base depth (frame size: 8.5cm)
**Note: The hardware selected by the designer is designed to be snug to prevent items from falling out. After installation, it requires a second hand to assist in opening. Please consider this if you have concerns about ease of use before registering.**
