【Taipei In-Person | My First Sewing Class】Sewing Machine Basic Introductory One-on-One - Knitting / Felted Wool / Cloth - Cotton

Workshop Description

Introducing Atelier Llewellyn's very first beginner sewing (machine) introductory one-on-one private lesson! Since we launched our basic hand-sewing classes, many students have inquired about other courses, with sewing machine classes being a consistently popular request. As the designer, principal, and sole operator, my time is limited, and developing and preparing a new course requires meticulous refinement, demonstration, and revision. This includes considerations such as class duration, and the appropriate difficulty level for projects. While Atelier Llewellyn isn't primarily focused on teaching, my discerning approach ensures that any course offered is one I genuinely love and find beneficial for students. Through the learning process, participants can experience that the fashion industry isn't as glamorous as it might seem. To create a well-made garment or fabric product, one must understand the dedication and hidden costs involved, which becomes clear through hands-on experience. Our core philosophy remains unchanged: we hope students will gain an understanding of how a garment comes to life through practical application. This knowledge empowers them to make informed choices, opting for well-made, high-quality pieces that can be cherished for a long time, thereby reducing excessive fast fashion consumption and environmental pollution. Change begins with each of us. This introductory single-session course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior sewing machine experience, but who are interested in learning the basics. Participants will complete a small project during the class, learning the fundamental principles and operation of a sewing machine, along with basic fabric ironing techniques. This course only involves straight-line stitching, making it a very introductory sewing machine operation. The instructor will demonstrate and provide guidance. Students will complete one finished product during the class: a coin purse with a snap frame. Dimensions/Approximately 7cm high (excluding the snap frame) x 9cm wide at the base, 4cm deep (snap frame size: 8.5cm) **Note: The hardware chosen by the designer is designed to be snug to prevent items from falling out. After installation, an additional hand will be needed to assist in opening it. Please consider this carefully before registering if you have concerns about ease of use.** Materials/Outer fabric will be a printed cotton from the historic British department store Liberty, or printed cotton from Art Gallery Fabrics (AGF). The lining will be Taiwanese cotton. Purpose/Suitable for storing credit cards, business cards, loose change, or personal items like lip balm or lipstick. **Liberty Printed Cotton from a Historic British Department Store** A https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52404373125_6299e44540_b.jpg B https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52404224859_0c12442296_b.jpg C https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52403430367_a28bbf7ae2_b.jpg D https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52404437553_09642c036e_b.jpg **Art Gallery Fabrics (AGF) Printed Cotton** E https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52403430712_51f50cb6a7_b.jpg F https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52404437788_78cf7e17a1_b.jpg G https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52403430692_6eea92f1d9_b.jpg H https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52404224724_77e4342f9d_b.jpg Class duration: Single session: 2.5 hours Practice and finished product material fee: $550 (payable in class) *The pattern used in this course is the property of our studio and is provided for use only during the class.
