Introducing Atelier Llewellyn's first one-on-one beginner sewing machine introductory private lesson~
Since launching our basic hand-sewing class, many students have inquired about other courses, with sewing machine classes consistently being a popular request. As the designer, principal, and sole operator, my time is limited due to managing all aspects of the business. Developing and preparing a new course requires careful consideration, demonstration, and refinement, including aspects like time management and the appropriate difficulty level for projects. While Atelier Llewellyn isn't solely focused on teaching, my meticulous approach means I want to offer courses that I genuinely love and that will be beneficial to students. Through the learning process, I hope to offer insight into the fashion industry, which is not always as glamorous as it might seem. Understanding the effort and hidden costs involved in creating a well-made garment will illuminate why quality pieces command a higher price. Our core principle remains unchanged: to help students understand the creation of a garment through hands-on experience, encouraging them to make informed choices, opt for well-crafted items that last, reduce fast-fashion consumption, and minimize environmental impact—all starting with personal change.
This single-session introductory course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior sewing machine experience, who are keen to explore the craft. Participants will complete a small project during the class, learning the basic principles and operation of a sewing machine, along with fundamental fabric ironing techniques.
This course exclusively uses straight-line stitching, a very basic sewing machine operation. The instructor will demonstrate and provide guidance.
Students will complete one finished item: a kiss-lock coin purse.
Dimensions: Approximately 7cm (height, excluding kiss-lock clasp) x 9cm (base width) x 4cm (base depth) (Kiss-lock size: 8.5cm)
**Note: The hardware selected by the designer has a snug fit to prevent items from falling out. After installation, it may require a second hand to open easily. Please consider this if it may be inconvenient for you before registering.**
Materials: Outer fabric will be a print cotton from the esteemed British department store Liberty or American AGF (Art Gallery Fabrics), with a Taiwanese cotton lining.
Use: Suitable for storing credit cards, business cards, coins, or small items like lip balm or lipstick.
