During the flying fish season, one must not bring oranges to the sea. In their language, the word for orange sounds like an insult or curse. Therefore, everyone refrains from bringing oranges to the coast during this time, lest it bring bad luck. Some islanders also say that "orange" sounds similar to "go away" or "get out" in their dialect, indirectly telling the flying fish to leave, and they avoid carrying oranges while fishing. 2. There are specific times and rules for catching flying fish, as well as prescribed methods for rituals and preparing the fish. 3. The plates used to serve flying fish have a fixed design and must not be used for any other type of fish, as doing so would invite misfortune. 4.
