Hetian Jade (Nephrite)
Hetian jade, commonly known as true jade, is a variety of nephrite. Traditionally, it specifically refers to jade produced in the Hetian region of Xinjiang. Hetian jade is a high-end nephrite with leading brands. The new national standard generally refers to jade with a hardness between 6.0 and 6.5.
Ancient medical books state that "jade is the most beautiful of stones, sweet in taste, neutral in nature, and non-toxic," and that jade is the most abundant substance for nourishing vital energy in the human body.
Jade is not only used for jewelry, ornaments, and decorations, but also for health and wellness.
Since ancient times, emperors and concubines of various dynasties have used jade for health preservation. Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty was obsessed with jade, Yang Guifei used jade to cool herself in the summer heat, and jade pillows were believed to sharpen the mind. Ancient emperors favored jade pillows, and many of the longest-lived emperors in ancient China used jade pillows.
Jade not only beautifies people's lives and cultivates their temperament, but also has the effects of warding off illness and ensuring peace.
It has beautifying, calming, and soothing effects on the human body. Long-term use can rejuvenate the spirit and prolong life.
The material of Hetian jade can emit and release energy. When applied to acupoints, it can stimulate meridians and unblock internal organs. It can be released spontaneously and quickly combines with the body's temperature. The "Yanglao" acupoint, located on the back of the wrist, can also store vital energy and nourish the spirit.
Ancient medical classics such as *Shennong's Materia Medica* and *Compendium of Materia Medica* record that jade has therapeutic effects including "removing internal heat, relieving vexation, moistening the heart and lungs, aiding the voice and throat, nourishing hair, nourishing the five internal organs, calming the spirit, clearing blood vessels, and brightening the eyes and ears."
Modern scientific analysis shows that the benefits of jade to the human body are due to its content of more than ten trace elements beneficial to human health, such as gold, silver, silicon, zinc, iron, selenium, magnesium, and manganese.
Jade is considered a substance rich in the essence of heaven and earth. Regular wear allows these trace elements to be absorbed into the body through the skin, balancing the imbalance of yin and yang, and promoting health and longevity.
The manganese in jade can combat the damage caused by free radicals, participate in the synthesis of proteins and vitamins, promote blood circulation, accelerate metabolism, resist aging, and prevent Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis, and atherosclerosis.
The selenium element in jade can catalyze the reduction of toxic oxides into harmless hydroxyl compounds, thus protecting biological membranes from damage and playing an anti-aging role. It can also detoxify harmful heavy metals such as cadmium and lead from the human body, enhance immune function, and improve the body's disease resistance.
If diamonds are Western gemstones, then jade is an Eastern gemstone.
Besides its decorative, ornamental, and value-preserving properties, jade also has health and beauty benefits.
Therefore, jade is called "Oriental Magic Jade" by Western women.
