"Neriage" is a technique in which colorful clay that has been colored with pigments is kneaded together and patterns are created using the centrifugal force and the expansion and contraction of the clay when pulled on a potter's wheel. The patterns that are produced vary depending on how the clay is kneaded and the time and effort spent on turning the wheel, allowing you to enjoy the unexpected. Pigments come in a variety of colors, but I wanted to create pottery in vibrant colors that would stand out in the summer, so I chose vibrant colors like orange and yellow. If you just apply the clear glaze and bake it, the color will be vivid and pop, but I thought it would be better to tone down the color a bit, so I added a white glaze. The white glaze combined with the clear glaze melts and flows, covering the vessel like a candy glaze, giving it a soft impression. The bowl itself is a bit flashy, so it's recommended for desserts or simple soups rather than dishes. The white of the vanilla ice cream and the vibrant colors of the fruit really stand out. I use a small electric kiln and an electric potter's wheel at home to make my pottery, and all processes, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand.
