This porcelain tea bowl was wheel-thrown using Japanese porcelain clay and wood fired over four days. During the firing, the bowl was exposed to the direct influence of flame, ash, and intense heat. In a wood kiln, ash carried through the chamber settles onto the surface of the clay and melts into a natural glaze, creating surfaces that are impossible to fully predict or repeat.
Throughout the firing, the bowl developed subtle copper-red streaks along with delicate crystalline textures that formed as the glaze cooled. These natural effects bring warmth and depth to the porcelain, giving the piece a quiet sense of movement and life.
The form is simple and balanced, with gentle throwing lines that remain visible, reflecting the hand of the maker and the rhythm of the wheel.
