This is an SDG-conscious piece of kintsugi jewelry, upcycled from pottery by Fukukikama, a kiln based in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, known for its Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki ceramics. Broken or chipped pottery, no longer in use, is given new life through kintsugi and fashioned into accessories. The concept behind these creations is to foster a connection with nature and Japan's enduring traditions, reimagining them into modern accessories that bridge the past and future, opening up new possibilities. Elegant grey pottery fragments are adorned with freshwater pearls. As you move, the freshwater pearls sway, adding a touch of radiance to your ears. Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragments, allowing the gold to beautifully catch the light even from the side, lending an air of refinement. This work utilizes a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional kintsugi using the sap of the lacquer tree, this method uses adhesive for the initial bonding.
