The RED TORNADO washed denim shirt is a piece our team spent considerable time developing. We went through over twenty prototypes, and the fabric weighs a substantial 11oz before washing, making it quite robust for a shirt. The pattern and structure are inspired by early RRL designs, with the length adjusted for an Asian physique, allowing it to be worn tucked in or untucked. Washing techniques have always been a strength of RT. To achieve a natural fading effect that looks aged yet subtle, and feels comfortable without being stiff, the entire garment is first treated with sandpaper. It then undergoes a bleaching process, followed by manual wiping with gloves, and finally, dyeing. The process is complex, but the result is beautifully natural.
