We strive to avoid these during the cutting process or place them on less visible or non-stressed areas of the product. 2. Hand-Stitched Seams Our products are meticulously hand-stitched, eschewing machine use. Before stitching, special diamond chisels are used to create precise holes in the leather, enabling the distinctive wavy stitch pattern, a key difference from machine stitching. While this significantly extends production time, it is a crucial step where the artisan imbues the leather goods with soul and a warm, tactile feel. 3. Hand-Burnished Edges The final stage before completion involves burnishing and sealing the leather edges. To achieve a smooth, rounded, and natural finish, "Cut Line School" employs a unique edge-finishing method. Sharp edges are repeatedly smoothed with sandpaper, followed by the application of an edge sealant for a flat appearance. This process is repeated 2-3 times, then a layer of edge wax is applied. Finally, a burnishing tool is used to rub the edges until they achieve a polished, smooth surface. 4. Hand-Dyed Leather For our hand-dyed products, "Cut Line School" uses imported Fiebing's leather alcohol dyes from the United States. To ensure even and natural coloration, we begin by slightly dampening the leather surface. The dye is then applied layer by layer with a sponge, gradually building from light to deep tones until the desired color is achieved. After drying, a fixative is applied to enhance colorfastness. Finally, a light application of water is used to wipe away any surface dust and further even out the color. As each piece is hand-dyed, subtle variations in color exist between products, making every item truly unique.
