French Vintage Nord Pas de Calais Wooden Pen Holder & Notebook Desk Set

Very delicate combination of wooden stationery, placed on the desk is both exquisite and practical. On the left there is a pen holder labelled Crayons, and on the right there is a wooden board labelled Telephone, which contains a telephone book that can also be removed and replaced with a notebook. The gold label on the left marks Artisanat Français bois véritable, meaning handmade in France and made of solid wood. Nord-Pas-de-Calais is an ancient northern French region that was once part of the southern Netherlands and the Spanish Netherlands, and is therefore heavily influenced by Belgian and Dutch culture. It was not a French territory until 1713, and it was officially named the Nord region in 1973. The area is very close to the English Channel, so the wooden panels are carved with beautiful views of the lighthouse, the sea, seagull and boat.
