**Torizara**
In Japan, many dishes are brought to the table for family and shared among friends on a single, large platter. From here, each person will take just enough for themselves using smaller individual serving dishes called “Torizara”.
Torizara is made up of two Japanese words, Tori and Zara, and it is from here that these plates were inspired.
**Japanese Lesson #1**
■In Japanese, ‘Zara’ or ‘Sara’ refers to a plate or serving tray.
■Tori can have two meanings. One meaning is to take something, as in take from the larger plate to your smaller one. The second meaning is ‘ a bird’.
And with this in mind, we created these expressive bird-shaped Torizara.
Made of fine Mino Ware, they can be easily stacked and stored and the tail section of this plate, with its gentle incline, allows for a comfortable and smooth grip.
