Mahjong is a game familiar to many, a staple activity for gatherings during festive occasions like Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival. To commemorate the 13th anniversary of our Hong Kong-based leather brand, we have selected and illustrated local delicacies, childhood toys, traditional items, widely-used Cantonese slang, and iconic Hong Kong scenery. We designed and produced a mahjong set that is truly representative of Hong Kong. Beyond launching leather keychains and card holders, we are also introducing a physical mahjong set. Our hope is that Hong Kong's unique traditions and scenery will be passed down through generations, ensuring that wherever Hongkongers may be, playing mahjong can continue to be a way to transmit Hong Kong culture across ages. About Wan Zi | Hong Kong-style Mahjong | Hong Kong Leather 13th Anniversary Project There are nine types of patterns for 'Wan Zi' (ten thousand character tiles), and 'Wan' itself is a unit of currency. In Hong Kong vernacular, besides common quantifiers like 'ge' (个), 'sap' (十), 'baak' (百), 'chin' (千), and 'maan' (萬), there are various other terms. For example, 'gau' (舊) means hundred, 'pei' (皮) means ten thousand, 'kau' (球) means million, and 'gei' (雞) also means ten thousand.
