Flower Deity Oracle / No. 16 / Osmanthus
The Twelve Flower Deities X 24 Tang & Song Dynasty Poems X Newly Interpreted Oracle Messages
The Flower Deity, an ancient custom:
"On the day of the Mangzhong solar term, offerings of various gifts are prepared to bid farewell to the Flower Deity, as after Mangzhong, summer arrives, all flowers wither, and the Flower Deity retires. This custom is especially popular among young ladies. Everyone in the Grand View Garden wakes up early. The girls weave flower petals and willow branches into carriages and horses, or stack brocades, silks, and gauzes into banners and streamers, all tied with colorful threads. These are attached to every tree and every flower branch. The garden is filled with fluttering silk ribbons and blooming flowers, and the girls themselves are adorned so beautifully that they shame the flowers and make the birds envious. It's impossible to describe it all."
—Dream of the Red Chamber, Chapter 27

It's like this: the vibrant bloom of every color, your burgeoning spring desires, the depth of your autumn feelings—all because you are worthy.
Sometimes, we yearn for a subtle hint. Sometimes, that intangible thread of connection, the one we hesitate to acknowledge, is precisely the destined separation we are unwilling to face.
Let us shake the oracle bamboo, and entrust ourselves to the flow of chance.
Your belief in a feeling's existence is as valid as your belief in its absence.
