He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the National Taiwan Normal University and Lindenwood University in the United States. He has served as the chairman of the Chinese Calligraphy Association and the vice president of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Seal Carving Institute. He was also an artist-in-residence at the University of Technology, Sydney, and the University of Taipei. In 1996, he studied in France on a government scholarship and has held solo exhibitions of his calligraphy and painting in Taiwan, China, the United States, France, and Japan. Chu Chen-nan's large-scale works are displayed in public spaces, including the Taipei City Hall, Taipei Main Station, Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, the Music College of Taipei National University of the Arts, and the names of railway stations in eastern Taiwan. His collaboration with Mr. Vincent Fang, "On the Road," a monumental calligraphy art installation, can be found at Terminal 1 of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.
