Solid wood has natural pores that can expand and contract with climate changes. While not guaranteed to happen, cracking is a possibility due to this thermal expansion and contraction. This subtle cracking typically stabilizes after the furniture has been used through a full cycle of seasons. Wood products (solid wood) may exhibit natural color changes, fine lines, or drying cracks over time and with use. These are all natural occurrences. For maintenance, avoid applying force with hard or blunt objects that could damage the appearance or structural integrity. Also, prevent prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and avoid placing hot items directly on the wood to prevent damage or warping. Spills should be wiped up immediately to prevent discoloration or damage.
