Nanbu tekki Washu Konno's handmade cast iron kettle Chinese chrysanthemum 2L - Teapots & Teacups - Other Metals Black

Product Description

※Due to the hand-coloring process, there are individual differences in coloring. This is a handmade iron kettle made by caster Washu Konno. Each piece is carefully finished using traditional techniques. Beautifully finished tetsubin. The entire surface of the iron kettle is decorated with the Chinese chrysanthemum motif. The Chinese chrysanthemum motif is a decorative design based on the motif of the chrysanthemum flower that was introduced from ancient China. In Japan it is considered an auspicious motif that symbolizes longevity and prosperity. It is often used in traditional crafts and decorations. The lid is also decorated with a Chinese chrysanthemum. The lid knob is decorated chipped and worked. It creates a withered look and expresses Japanese 「wabi-sabi」, which is not only glamorous but also elegant. 「Wabi-sabi」 is an important concept that symbolizes Japanese culture and spirituality. The long spout makes it easy to control the water flow and pour slowly. The inside is finished with a rust-resistant finish using the traditional 「kama-yaki」 technique. Kamayaki is done by firing the tetsubin in a high-temperature oven. This process forms an oxide film on the surface of the tetsubin. The oxide film stabilizes the iron content of the tetsubin. The flavor of boiled water is improved and rust and corrosion are prevented. Rust-proofing by kettle firing is a traditional technique that has been handed down since ancient times. Natural lacquer baking finish on the outside. Natural lacquer baking finish is a traditional method of applying natural lacquer to the surface of the tetsubin and firing it. This process protects the surface of the tetsubin from rust and stains. Natural lacquer is also highly durable and keeps the texture and color of the tetsubin beautifully for a long period of time. The handle is fixed. Large capacity of approximately 2 liters. Recommended for those who want to boil more water. Compatible with gas and induction cookers. ※Do not use on high heat. Doing so may cause cracks or holes. ●Artist Profile:Washu Konno、Foundry Artist Biography 1949:Born in Haneda-cho, Mizusawa-ku, Oshu City Japan 1968:Started this career under his father (Saaki Foundry) 1982:Became independent in Hiraizumi 1975:Won an award at the Iwate Crafts and Arts Exhibition 1976:Selected for the Japanese Traditional Crafts Metalwork New Works Exhibition 1977:Selected for the Japanese Traditional Crafts New Works Exhibition and Craft Exhibition 1978:Selected for the Nitten Exhibition and Kyoto Four-Person Exhibition 1979:Selected for the Japanese Contemporary Crafts and Arts Exhibition Manufacturer::Washu Konno Size:W22cm x D17.8cm x H22.5cm Weight:Approximately 2.26kg Capacity:Approximately 2L Material:Iron casting Country of manufacture:Japan (Iwate Prefecture) Packaging form / accessories:Special box, instruction manual Information on customs duties Customs duty may be incurred when purchasing Japanese products from overseas.
