Taiwan is home to 27 species of the Celastrina butterfly family, remnants of the ice age. They inhabit misty forests at mid-to-high altitudes. When at rest with wings closed, they reveal simple shades of gray and brown. However, when their wings are spread, the wing surfaces shimmer with brilliant metallic hues of green, blue, and pearl, earning them the name "living jewels of the misty forest."
The Celastrina argia, also known as the Western Green-underside Blue, exhibits distinct color differences between males and females. This piece features the male butterfly, with wings brushed with silver powder that glimmers and dances with movement.
Crafted from elements of original hand-painted watercolors, each piece is handmade.
Approximately 3.2cm in length and 2.9cm in width.
A complimentary postcard featuring the original watercolor painting will be included with your purchase (please refer to the third image).
Please feel free to inquire if you have any questions. Thank you.
