New Year Kadomatsu -
Kadomatsu are the most common New Year's door decorations in Japan,
crafted from woven straw and stalks.
Hung at the entrance during the New Year period,
they symbolize welcoming deities and celebrating the new year.
Adorned with auspicious ornaments, they have become popular door decorations in both Japan and Taiwan for the New Year.
This double-ring tassel Kadomatsu features:
Pine Cones: Resembling flowers, these represent completeness and abundance.
Camellia Leaves: Camellias hold rich meanings, broadly symbolizing "ideal love, humility, prudence, and nobility," as well as bravery and perfection.
Ponderosa Pine: Symbolizing resilience, longevity, and good fortune.
Golden Gourd: Its name sounds like "fortune and blessings" (福祿) in Chinese, and its round shape signifies abundant wealth.
Golden Ears of Rice: Symbolizing a bountiful harvest.
Red and White Bay Berries: Bay berries symbolize "exorcism and purification," "courage," and "new beginnings." They represent the power to dispel negative energy, bring clarity of thought, and inspire determination and strength for a fresh start.
In addition to these botanicals,
the arrangement is enhanced with a deep red ribbon and other golden berries.
The simple combination of red, gold, and deep green creates a festive atmosphere. This piece is a delightful decoration, available in two styles, both featuring Kadomatsu imported from Japan by Daichi Noen, complemented by different foliage and embellishments.
Dimensions: Approximately 40cm in length and 28cm in width.
