Kutani-yaki Introduction
Kutani-yaki, a dazzling gem of Japanese painted ceramics
is a type of painted ceramic representing traditional Japanese craftsmanship, originating from the Minami-Kaga region in southern Ishikawa Prefecture.
Renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship and vibrant colors, it is considered the pinnacle of painted ceramics. With a history spanning over 360 years, Kutani-yaki has become one of Japan's most representative porcelain crafts.
It is renowned not only for its bright and eye-catching colors but also for its innovative spirit that keeps pace with the times, making it beloved by enthusiasts throughout Japan and around the world. The name Kutani-yaki originates from Kutani Village in Enuma District, Kaga Province (near present-day Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture).
Its origins can be traced back to the early Edo period, when porcelain production began in Kutani Village, deep in the Yamanaka Onsen area of Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Kutani ware is characterized by its unique "Kutani Gosai"—five types of Japanese hard pigments: green, yellow, red, purple, and indigo—used in "onagae" (a technique of painting designs on the glaze), resulting in vibrant colors and rich layers.
This has become one of its most distinctive features. With the evolution of time, Kutani ware has continuously innovated, blending traditional and modern designs.
It not only retains the classic Gosai style but also actively integrates with contemporary popular culture.

Ourlittlezone (Japanese Lucky Cat Daruma Specialty Store)
Established in 2018, offering online shopping services.
Loved by local and overseas customers.
Since 2021, we have collaborated with the Kiyomizu ware workshop in Kyoto to launch original Lucky Cat and Daruma figurines. Each piece is independently developed by Ourlittlezone, from pattern design to mold making, infusing it with the brand's unique creative spirit. It is then handcrafted by top Japanese artisans using exquisite techniques to ensure unparalleled quality and meticulous craftsmanship.
Our design inspiration comes from the fusion of Chinese and Japanese cultures, cleverly combining the lively charm of the Japanese Lucky Cat with the Zen philosophy of the Chinese Daruma, creating artistic treasures that combine artistic flair with auspicious meaning. Each piece is not only a symbol of luck and prosperity but also carries blessings for a better life. With innovation at our core, we break through the traditional framework of mascots, imbuing each piece with a unique story and emotional connection. Our aim is to bring happiness and joy to every corner of the world, allowing Ourlittlezone's blessings to accompany you and brighten every moment of your life!
