This bowl features a white camellia, as seen from the window of our pottery studio in early winter. The elegant white camellia, vibrantly depicted against a calm black glaze, evokes the beauty of Japanese aesthetics and the essence of the season. Crafted using Shigaraki clay on a potter's wheel, this bowl is meticulously hand-painted with white camellias, layer by layer, before being fired. The glaze, mixed in our studio, is fired to achieve its unique color, while the painting carefully considers the natural hues of the flowers. Gold and silver accents are added to enhance the camellia's vibrancy. The application of gold and silver requires a high level of skill, demanding careful control of temperature and humidity during the process. It fits gently in the hand, is comfortable to hold, and offers a smooth feel when drinking.
