Wood-Fired Rose Gold Mug / 500cc / Handmade by Xiao Ping Fan - Teapots & Teacups - Pottery

Product Description

Wood-fired mug, with a large capacity, very practical! Suitable for drinking water, brewing tea bags, or enjoying beer. πŸ‘ Wood-fired pieces emit far-infrared rays, which can soften water and remove impurities! The traditional, rustic feel is beautiful, and the special textured design adds depth, while the natural, gradual tones from the wood fire are endlessly intriguing! The rim of this mug is not perfectly round, but this does not detract from its beauty and is normal for use. Diameter: 9cm Height: 10cm Capacity: Approx. 500cc β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”- In the 2023 5th Shanghai International Wood Firing Ceramics Competition, both artists from Xiao Ping Fan Pottery Studio, Chen Shiping and Wang Yufan, had their works selected for honorable mentions. Your support is our motivation to continue creating. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341561855_249c0591a6_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341437984_c608c50771_c.jpg 2023 Media Interview: The Lean Startup Journey of Xiao Ping Fan Art https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341329978_bb6984d457_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341561785_f553253a82_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341329968_8834731df8_c.jpg The works from Xiao Ping Fan Pottery Studio do not pursue mass production. Each creation possesses a unique concept and design, imbuing the process of pure hand-shaping or wheel-throwing with life. Every piece is one of a kind. All our works are created by us as a couple, hence the "Ping" or "Fan" inscriptions. Some pieces will also have the "Xiao Ping Fan Pottery Studio" seal, making each entirely unique!! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567264550_68d52fdae8_b.jpg **1. What is the origin of the work?** We primarily use American clay, Japanese clay, and Taiwanese Miaoli clay for our creations. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567015014_0b15931da0_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565549942_7663197885_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567015039_4c2a9b80e3_c.jpg **2. What is the wood-firing process?** American clay, Japanese clay, and Miaoli clay are mixed in different proportions. The creation process involves pure hand-shaping (not a pottery wheel) to gradually form the piece. After basic shaping, the lines of the body are refined, then polished to complete the initial form. Once placed in the kiln, the piece undergoes a five-day, four-night continuous wood-firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the work, forming a unique ash glaze. Simultaneously, the flame patterns within the kiln flow between the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple flame marks. After five days and four nights of ash and flame interplay, a week of cooling is required to reveal the beautiful form of each piece! Because the kiln atmosphere differs with each wood-firing session, the ash deposits and flame patterns on every piece are unique, making each work truly one of a kind! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567015104_1eec785177_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567264535_7bd0037e60_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565533012_fdce6d65a3_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51566346721_2b98f539f8_c.jpg **3. What should guests be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As the pieces are purely handmade, they will bear the marks of the crafting process. Slight variations may also occur due to the firing process. Imperfect rims or minor production scratches are normal and do not affect normal use.
