*Packaged in a polybag While most species have females responsible for reproduction, seahorses are an exception. The female deposits her eggs into a pouch on the male's abdomen, and it is the male seahorse that carries the eggs until they hatch. Although seahorses are not strictly monogamous, they display remarkable fidelity during the breeding season. They stay close to each other before mating, and after the male becomes pregnant, the female visits him daily to offer companionship.
