Kalimantan Agarwood | Top-tier Xingzhou Grade - Rich & Cooling Aroma
Among the agarwood-producing regions of the Xingzhou classification, Kalimantan agarwood has long been recognized as a benchmark for high-quality agarwood. Located on the Indonesian island of Borneo, a vast landmass approximately fifteen times the size of Taiwan, Kalimantan boasts a relatively sparse population. This allows for the preservation of extensive primary rainforests, creating a crucial environment for the growth and resinous formation of agarwood trees.
In recent years, with the over-harvesting of agarwood resources, the output of natural Kalimantan agarwood has rapidly declined. Agarwood that yields high oil content and rich aromas has become exceptionally rare. High-quality Kalimantan agarwood circulating in the market today is often a matter of serendipity and holds significant collector's value.
Kalimantan agarwood is renowned for its calm and rich aroma. The initial scent carries a distinct woody note, followed by a natural cooling sensation intertwined with hints of frankincense. Some older pieces may even reveal a soft floral and fruity sweetness. The overall aroma profile is layered, warm, and substantial, offering a pleasant experience that never tires, deeply cherished by agarwood connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike.
Currently, Kalimantan agarwood aged over thirty years is considered even more precious. Such agarwood has typically been preserved by previous generations of collectors. Matured over time, its aroma becomes more mellow and stable. Available online, it allows discerning collectors to browse and purchase with confidence, offering immense value whether for daily enjoyment or long-term investment.

Born in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1983, Kwood's background in craft design and his travels through Japan exposed him to the way wooden art breathed warm, profound life into ancient alleyways. Objects that seemed like fragments of time, bearing the marks of history and the contours of the future, sought a delicate balance between opposition and harmony. This sensibility is transformed into meticulous works, closely connecting the vision of a new generation with the simplicity of the old. Agarwood, once ground into powder for appreciation, was traditionally placed in the place of honor in Japanese homes, symbolizing vitality and light.
The agarwood timber arrives from its origin, pure and flawless, untouched by artificial processes like boiling glue, drawing lines, or synthetic fragrances. It is presented in its most authentic form, utilizing ancient techniques to meticulously peel away the outer layer of deadwood by hand, revealing the true soul of the agarwood. This not only imbues it with eternal vitality but also allows tradition and contemporary craftsmanship to subtly intertwine at the fingertips, creating a feast for both the eyes and the nose. The rich fragrance is like a condensation of time, gently drawing together memories of the past and aspirations for the future, allowing them to meet and resonate within the aroma, extending endlessly, distant and profound.
