The artist carefully controls the thickness of each glaze application, firing it at 1260 degrees Celsius. Over 20 hours of intense heat transform the piece in the kiln, allowing the glazes to contract and flow, creating the intricate patterns and fluid movement reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the temperature curve. If the glaze is too thin or the temperature too low, the distinctive "peacock display" pattern will not emerge. Conversely, if the glaze is too thick or the temperature too high, it can run onto the accompanying plate, potentially damaging both the tea bowl and the plate. Even ambient temperature fluctuations can influence the final outcome. Numerous factors intertwine in this process, and despite years of dedicated study, achieving perfect predictability remains elusive. It is precisely this complexity that imbues each finished piece with its unique preciousness. The artist hopes this work inspires others to embrace hope when facing adversity, to persevere with unwavering effort, and to one day unfurl their own beautiful "feathers," illuminating their lives with brilliance.
