Let it sit until it feels non-greasy to the touch, then wipe it again with a clean cotton cloth. During sweaty summers or if exposed to sunscreen, increase the frequency of damp cleaning and oiling to extend the leather's lifespan. 2. When applying leather oil, pay special attention to conditioning the edges of the leather cord, as they are prone to wear. 3. If the leather becomes saturated with water, wipe off excess moisture as soon as possible and dry with cool air, then reapply leather oil for protection. Allowing it to air dry naturally can cause the leather fibers to shrink, deform, and harden. 4. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. 5. Mold spots on leather develop over time from dust and ambient moisture. Therefore, for leather items not used long-term, wipe them with a dry cloth, then wrap them in a dust bag, cowhide paper, or cotton cloth (cut from an old white cotton t-shirt) and store them in a ventilated area. Frequently handling the leather item (to prevent dust and moisture buildup) can also reduce the chance of mold, much like the principle of a rolling stone gathering no moss. 6.
