Sakaki Dyed Safari Hat - Size M [Organic Cotton]
A beloved safari hat, crafted with meticulous care, returns year after year.
This season, we've brought it to life using Sakaki-dyed fabric. ◎
This stylish safari hat is lightweight, durable, and perfect for your spring and summer adventures. It features a convenient drawstring (in light grey cotton) for a secure fit.
The outer fabric is an organic cotton plain weave poplin, woven in Okayama Prefecture.
It's exceptionally light, airy, and durable.
While nylon is a common material for safari hats, one made from organic cotton poplin is rare, offering a uniquely pleasant feel and texture.
The deep charcoal grey hue is achieved using dyes extracted from Sakaki (Japanese Holly) through a technique called botanical dyeing. Its classic, muted shade makes it easy to coordinate with various outfits.
The inner lining is a thin, soft organic cotton woven fabric, ensuring comfort even on warmer days and allowing for easy handwashing at home.
The design ensures that all parts touching your head, including the crown and forehead area, are made from organic cotton.

[About Botanical Dyeing]
Botanical dyeing is a technique that extracts dyes from plants such as flowers, leaves, roots, stems, trees, bark, and fruits. A protein-based adhesive is applied evenly to the fabric to help the natural dye bind, and then a small amount of chemical dye is added. This process enhances colorfastness (resisting fading from light, sweat, and washing, and stabilizing the color) without the need for mordants, allowing the beautiful, natural colors to be expressed on the fabric.
Natural dyes are not composed of a single element like chemical dyes.
A single color contains multiple pigments, and the gentle interplay of light reflecting off both weak and strong pigments creates a soft hue that is pleasing to the eye. We hope you will enjoy the vibrant yet deep and gentle colors of botanical dyeing.
Botanical dyeing is also an eco-friendly dyeing method that generates less water pollution and consumes less water during the dyeing process, making it kind to both the planet and people.
