Sourced from Portrieux, a rare port city in France.
The pendant's carvings are exceptionally intricate, rich with detail.
The main motif features a ship, a fitting tribute to its port city origins.
These patterns were sometimes used on shields and battle attire to distinguish friend from foe. Later, such emblems came to represent cities, commemorations, or churches.
The material appears to be sterling silver, with a substantial feel and in excellent condition.
This is an absolutely unique piece.
4.5x3.3 cm.
