Xiao Ping Fan Pottery Studio does not pursue mass production. Each creation possesses a unique concept and design, imbuing life into the process of hand-pinching or wheel-throwing. Every piece is one-of-a-kind. Our studio's works are a collaboration between my husband and I, hence the signatures "Ping" or "Fan." Some pieces also bear the "Xiao Ping Fan Pottery Studio" seal, making them truly unique!

**1. What is the origin of the work?**
We primarily use clay from the United States, Japan, and Miaoli, Taiwan for our creations.

**2. What is the wood-firing process?**
American, Japanese, and Miaoli clays are mixed in different proportions. The forming process is entirely by hand (not on a pottery wheel), shaping the piece slowly. After basic forming, the body lines are refined, then polished to complete the greenware.
Once in the kiln, it undergoes a five-day, four-night continuous wood-firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the work, forming a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, the kiln's fire marks flow between the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple flame patterns.
After five days and four nights of ash and fire marks intertwining, a week of cooling is required to achieve the beautiful form of each piece! Because the kiln atmosphere differs with each firing, the ash deposits and fire marks on every piece are unique, making each creation truly one-of-a-kind!

**3. What should guests be aware of?**
Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As each piece is handmade, it will retain the tactile textures from the creation process. Minor variations may also occur due to the firing process; slight imperfections in the rim or minor crafting scratches are normal and do not affect usability. We appreciate your understanding!
