Charm bead from a Buddhist temple in Myanmar.
Copper alloy, solid cast.
Year of origin unknown, estimated to be from the 19th-20th century.
After arriving in Taiwan, it has been cleaned to remove oxidized patina.
The bead appears bright yellow in the photos, but will oxidize and darken again if not polished regularly.
The alloy composition of the charm bead contains gold, though in a low proportion.
Cinnabar is added during the smelting process.
Possessing an extremely strong magnetic field, it is believed to suppress spirits and other negative entities,
making it an excellent protective, barrier, and lucky amulet.
It is also often used for consecration and creating spiritual boundaries.
Nowadays, some people use it for spiritual cultivation and meditation,
placing it in home altars, cars, etc., to enhance the feng shui and magnetic field.
It has been affixed to a stainless steel round base with a diameter of 2.5cm.
Due to variations in base diameter,
the size of the charm beads can differ significantly!
It can be carried as a personal amulet, hung on a belt loop, or attached to keychains or mobile phones as a lucky charm.
