1955 Annular Solar Eclipse -
A Tribute to Dr. Chang Chin-cheng
Dr. Chang, also an astronomy enthusiast, not only observed the "annular solar eclipse" in Kaohsiung in 1955 but also witnessed the "total solar eclipse" that occurred in northern Taiwan in 1941—two major celestial wonders! Although Dr. Chang did not use a neutral density filter when photographing the annular eclipse back then, a thin veil of clouds naturally created a dimming effect. Coincidentally, a sailboat was anchored at sea at that precise moment. With favorable timing and location, Dr. Chang captured this harmonious and beautiful scene!
