THE STORY OF VERONA: DESIGNED IN 1968 Within the city of Verona, the majestic Roman amphitheater, the Arena of Verona, is a captivating sight. The amphitheater's concentric tiers of seating inspired Sven Middelboe to design a pendant that utilizes the horizontal and curved lines from the highest tier down to the arena floor, creating harmonious and gentle shapes. On the outside of the amphitheater, the open vaulted arches offer glimpses of the tiered seating below, giving the structure a lightness – much like the unique curve of the Verona pendant, elegantly concealing the light source.
