Why did such a unique little bird appear? I honestly don't know myself. That's because I always work spontaneously. I never sketch or draw preliminary designs beforehand. If I were to draw a preliminary sketch, it would feel like I was just following a blueprint, which I find boring and uninspiring. More importantly, it wouldn't capture the fun that emerges from pure inspiration. I start with just a vague idea in my head, like "I'll draw a bird this time," or "I'll draw a flower," and then, facing a blank plate, I focus. Things just start to emerge on their own. I then pick out what looks interesting and that becomes the finished piece. That's why I never know what will come out. I don't worry about the outcome. It's the dynamism, the new discoveries, the surprises, the encounters—that's what I enjoy about the process. This is a brief introduction for those interested in my work, explaining how I create. It's the imperfect beauty, or rather, the allure, that is unique to earthenware. Because pottery is earthenware, it may appear more rustic in person compared to the image. However, this initial impression quickly fades as you become accustomed to it, and you'll find the real-life quality, the texture, and the rustic charm truly grow on you.
