Jäger was founded in 1870 by Ludwig Mehlhorn and Eduard Julius Jäger. In 1960 it was merged to become Vereinigte Kunstporzellanwerke Eisenberg (United Eisenberg Porcelain Factory). In 1973, the German Democratic Republic nationalized its brand.
