Choose a handmade patchwork bag inspired by the Tang Dynasty's Western Regions, meticulously crafted from 57 pieces of pure cotton fabric scraps.
The patchwork design is inspired by the net bags used at the time to carry water bottles and food.
The original artifact referenced for this design was unearthed from the Tang Dynasty's Western Regions (Karakhoja) and the Astana Tombs.
"In my imagination, I walk at the foot of the Flaming Mountains. With such a cloth bag slung across my shoulder, perhaps holding precious water, I piece together this soft and precious fabric woven from cotton. I've added a layer of fine cotton padding to shield from the intense sun. Small triangular pleats at the bottom allow the bag to stand naturally, keeping the food carried in a bamboo basket safe..."
This is a complex yet joyful hand-sewing endeavor.
Inside the finished bag, I've incorporated a thin cord as a drawstring.
Fasten it, and it transforms into a convenient everyday bucket bag.
An inner pocket is sewn in, perfect for keeping small personal items organized.
The bag's fabric includes corduroy, traditional linen, and handcrafted white cotton cloth.
This particular white cotton fabric comes from Guizhou, made by women who continue to work with traditional wooden looms.
The cutting and sewing were completed in collaboration with single mothers.
As if transcending time and space, each piece carries the essence of a mother's touch.
Gentleness always embraces those who cherish it.
