Product Description

| Chen Ting Shih - "Golden Riches" Spring Couplet | This design artfully transforms the calligraphy of artist Chen Ting Shih into a decorative piece for your home. It brings the beauty of art out of galleries and into your everyday life, enriching your personal space with a diverse aesthetic. | Chen Ting Shih | Born in 1913 into a scholarly family in Changle, Fujian, Chen Ting Shih lost his hearing due to a childhood accident. This pivotal moment, however, steered him towards a profound artistic journey. The late National Palace Museum researcher Chu Ko hailed him as a "national treasure" in art, while former Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts Director Lee Chun-Hsien and art critic Lu Rong-Chih independently regarded him as a living "art history." During his youth, amidst the turmoil of war, he adopted the pseudonym "Er Shi" (Ear Shi), using realistic woodcut prints to voice his critique and resistance. After returning to Taiwan post-war, he co-founded influential art groups such as the "Modern Printmaking Association," "Fifth Moon Group," and "Modern Eye," paving the way for the development of modern art in Taiwan. In 1957, he began creating prints using the abundant sugarcane board available at the time, pushing its unique properties to their limits. His print "Hibernation" won the grand prize at the 1st "International Print Biennial, Korea" in 1970. In his later years, he shifted his focus to iron sculpture. His work "Johnnie Walker" was featured in the chapter "Masters of Iron and Space" in the book "Art of the Twentieth Century," marking his place in the global art history of the 20th century. | Product Information | • Material: Paper • Size: 18.5 x 18.5 cm • Adhesive backing not included ★ Slight color variations may occur between the actual product and the photos. | Brand Commitment | • Design & Made in TAIWAN • Whether for collection or gifting, these pieces exquisitely showcase the quality of the product and the thoughtfulness of your gesture. | About Gallery Chuan & CHU,AN Design | Founded in 1999 with the core principle of "integrating art and design into life, presenting an aesthetic attitude," Gallery Chuan embodies this mission.
