Brass Care Instructions: Brass has always been a highly popular material for jewelry. It is affordably priced and does not fade. However, like silver, brass is prone to oxidation. Exposure to water, sweat, and air can darken its color. While some appreciate this natural patina, to prevent it, please be mindful of the following: ♦ Avoid contact with water. ♦ When not wearing it, store it in a resealable zipper bag. If the luster appears to have dulled, here are a few simple methods to restore your purchase to its original brilliance. Please note that if the item has been scratched, while the color can be revived, the shine may not be fully restored (the matte antique bronze look of vintage pieces is also very beautiful!). ♦ Use a toothbrush dipped in a foaming toothpaste or tooth powder and brush gently, similar to brushing your teeth. This can restore the brass's luster. Be sure to dry the item thoroughly after washing. ♦ Use a silver polishing cloth for quick restoration of shine (not applicable to brushed surfaces). ♦ Squeeze lemon juice, dilute it, and soak the brass accessory for approximately 5 minutes for a rapid return to brilliance (not suitable for natural beads like pearls that are sensitive to acid).
